Renaissance Québec is proud to announce the start of construction on its largest project to date: an impact centre located at 10,600 Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough.
Spanning nearly 160,000 square feet and with an investment of over $45 million, this centre will be a hub of services for citizens, including employability programs, commercial offerings, and a donation recovery and processing centre.
This project is more than just a real estate development. We aim to create a sustainable, dynamic, and prosperous economic hub that contributes to the growth of East Montreal and aligns with our vision of becoming a leader in Quebec’s social economy. The impact centre will bring together our three areas of expertise: socio-professional integration, waste collection and reuse, and social and circular economy,” says Mr. Éric St-Arnaud, General Director of Renaissance Québec.
Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles: A Promising Neighbourhood
The impact centre is being established in East Island, a vibrant area characterized by significant social diversity and a substantial presence of immigrants and vulnerable individuals. We chose Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles (RDP-PAT) for its economic potential and the ongoing revitalization efforts supported by local and regional authorities.
A Major Project with Strong Social, Environmental, and Economic Impact
The Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre will include a thrift store, a liquidation shop, a donation centre, and employment assistance services. It will play a crucial role in revitalizing the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, strengthening the social fabric, supporting the environment, and boosting the local economy.
The centre will enhance waste management in East Montreal by offering a free solution for collecting and processing donated items. Renaissance estimates that 1,540 tons of reusable goods will be diverted from landfills annually in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles area. This initiative is part of Renaissance’s goal to double the annual amount of diverted materials province-wide, reaching 50,000 tons by 2030.
The impact center will create 150 permanent jobs and offer socio-professional integration programs and employment assistance services. These initiatives will help approximately 200 people each year gain the skills needed to find employment. As a result, nearly 4,000 people will benefit annually from Renaissance’s employability programs.
We are excited to fully integrate into the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough by establishing a sustainable, dynamic, and prosperous economic hub at the heart of the neighborhood. Through our impact centre, we are committed to reintegrating, giving back, and reusing under one roof, thereby providing comprehensive support to the community.
Construction began on August 19, and the official opening is expected by late summer 2025.
