A few months after the official inauguration of the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre, Renaissance is pleased to announce the site’s full deployment with the official opening, on January 15, of its 26th thrift store and its 12th Renaissance Employment Assistance Centre (CAER). Located at 10600 Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard, in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre now brings together all of its activities and services under one roof.
A 26th thrift store to make second-hand shopping even more accessible
The opening of Renaissance’s 26th thrift store enhances the second-hand offering in East Montreal. By giving a new life to items donated by the community, this thrift store actively contributes to waste reduction and promotes responsible consumption practices, while supporting the organization’s social mission.
Integrated into the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre, the thrift store is part of an optimized goods journey, from donation to reuse, which also includes the donation centre, the Renaissance Kilo store, and upcoming textile upcycling activities.
A 12th CAER to strengthen employment support
Renaissance also announces the official opening of its 12th Renaissance Employment Assistance Centre, the CAER Maurice-Duplessis. This new centre will support approximately 150 people per year in their efforts to enter or re-enter the labour market.
The CAER relies on a strong network of partners from the employment, education, and community sectors, including: CJE Anjou–Saint-Justin, CJE Rivière-des-Prairies, CJE Bourassa-Sauvé, CSSPI, Impulsion-Travail, Horizon-Carrière, Moëlle Épinière et Motricité Québec, PITREM, INICI, Cégep Marie-Victorin, PME MTL, and the Centre d’action bénévole (CAB).
This support builds on the expertise developed by Renaissance, which has already assisted more than 11,647 people in returning to employment or education since its founding.
A fully deployed social, environmental, and economic impact
With a total area of 160,000 square feet, the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre employs over 150 people. This full deployment reinforces Renaissance’s ambition to divert 50,000 tonnes of goods annually by 2030 across Quebec.
By making all of its facilities accessible today—thrift store, donation centre, Renaissance Kilo, CAER, and research and development space—Renaissance confirms the role of the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre as a true driver of social and environmental transformation in East Montreal.
A new phase for a forward-looking project
With the site now fully operational, the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Centre enters a new phase of maturity and outreach. Designed as a pilot project, it will continue to inspire the rollout of future centres across Quebec, supporting a sustainable, inclusive development model rooted in local communities.
