Montreal, November 4, 2025 – Facing financial difficulties, Le Support has asked Renaissance to take over its operations. As of November 1, 2025, the organization will be integrated into Renaissance, a recognized social enterprise known for its expertise in reuse and socio-professional integration. By entrusting the management of its operations to Renaissance, Le Support aims to preserve its legacy and ensure the continuity of its activities. This transition, carried out in close collaboration with Le Support’s teams and partners, reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental impact of their efforts in service of the Quebec community.
“Over the past several months, we have faced significant financial challenges that threatened the continuation of our operations. We therefore decided to turn to Renaissance to ensure the sustainability of our activities, preserve jobs, and continue serving the community,” explains Emmanuel Rodrigue, Chair of the Board of Directors of Le Support.
A Quebec Legacy
For more than 37 years, Le Support has stood out through a model that combines social and environmental impact, particularly through the collection and recovery of used goods for the benefit of people living with intellectual disabilities. By integrating into Renaissance, the organization ensures the continuation of this mission within a well-established social-economy structure in Quebec.
“We are honored to continue the work begun by Le Support and to preserve its spirit. Together, we share the same belief: every donation can transform lives and have a positive impact for Quebec,” says Yvon Arseneault, Chair of the Board of Directors of Renaissance.
A Progressive and Supported Transition
Le Support currently operates two stores—one in Longueuil (2930 chemin de Chambly) and one in Verdun (4413 rue Wellington)—as well as a distribution and liquidation center in Saint-Léonard, and a network of over 200 donation bins across the Island of Montreal, the South Shore, the North Shore, and Laval.
Some donation bins will be integrated into the Renaissance network, and donations will continue to be processed according to current reuse practices. The home pickup service, currently suspended, is under evaluation.
The Longueuil store “Les trouvailles du Support” will remain open under Le Support’s name until spring 2026, before becoming a Renaissance branch.
The Verdun store “Les trouvailles du Support,” located near another Renaissance store, closed at the end of October 2025. Employees were offered reassignment to other Renaissance stores, including in Longueuil.
The Saint-Léonard distribution and liquidation center will also close, and its operations will be transferred to the Maurice-Duplessis Impact Center in East Montreal. Employees will be reassigned there.
Renaissance will support all Le Support employees throughout this transition, including through individual meetings to ensure a smooth and respectful integration.
Donations That Serve a Mission
Customers and donors can continue to shop and donate as usual: donation bins remain in place and the Longueuil store stays open. Each donation continues to generate social impact.
Since its founding, Le Support has supported the Société québécoise de la déficience intellectuelle (SQDI), contributing actively to its mission of inclusion and empowerment for people living with intellectual disabilities. As part of its integration into Renaissance, Le Support’s mission will now align with that of Renaissance, supporting the socio-professional integration of individuals distanced from the job market.
While continuing to channel citizen donations toward Renaissance’s mission, the organization hopes to maintain a connection with SQDI and is exploring ways to continue supporting people living with intellectual disabilities, in alignment with its own social mission.
“Le Support has enabled the Société québécoise de la déficience intellectuelle (SQDI) to pursue its mission of inclusion and empowerment for people living with intellectual disabilities. This collaboration has been invaluable, and we wish to express our gratitude to Le Support for its commitment over the years. The transition to Renaissance marks a new chapter: we understand that Renaissance directs its resources toward its own social mission, and on our side, we are working to diversify our funding sources in order to continue our efforts. Donors wishing to continue supporting SQDI may contact us directly at info@sqdi.ca,” explains Amélie Duranleau, Executive Director of SQDI.
