Montreal, June 19, 2026 – Renaissance is proud to announce the opening of its new donation centre located on the ground floor of Pavilion Monk, a project led by the Old Brewery Mission in the heart of Montreal’s Southwest borough.
This new service point will enable local residents to give a second life to their clothing, books, small household appliances, and other everyday items, while supporting Renaissance’s mission of social and professional integration.
Pavilion Monk includes 18 studio apartments with kitchens and bathrooms designed to provide a stable living environment for its residents. The Old Brewery Mission project was made possible through the collaboration of several partners, including the Governments of Canada and Quebec, the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, and the City of Montreal.
“With Pavilion Monk, we are providing an environment that helps residents move toward an essential form of normalcy. It is a cornerstone in the continuum of services for people seeking greater stability,” explained James Hughes, President and CEO of the Old Brewery Mission. Serving a diverse clientele, the project reflects a variety of life journeys and promotes successful reintegration into the community.
The arrival of the Renaissance donation centre within Pavilion Monk reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to enhancing community well-being. Located just steps from Monk Metro Station, this new collection point will offer local residents simple and convenient access to a service that promotes reuse, waste reduction, and employment integration.
“For Renaissance, this partnership with the Old Brewery Mission was a natural fit. It is built on a shared vision: two non-profit organizations that place people at the heart of their mission and believe in the power of collective action to support society’s most vulnerable individuals. By joining forces, we are creating a meaningful space that contributes to a more caring and sustainable society,” said Éric St-Arnaud, Executive Director of Renaissance.
Each year, donations collected by Renaissance help divert thousands of tonnes of material from landfill while funding support and training programs for people who face barriers to employment.
With this new donation centre, Renaissance continues its mission of creating opportunities, promoting reuse, and contributing to a fairer, more supportive, and more inclusive society.
Founded in 1994, Renaissance is a Quebec-based non-profit organization that combines social and professional integration with the circular economy. Through a network of more than 85 service locations, including 35 donation centres and 45 stores across Quebec, Renaissance gives items a second life while helping thousands of people on their path to employment.
Since its founding, the organization has helped nearly 13,000 people find employment or return to school. From April 2025 to March 2026, Renaissance collected 2.25 million donations and diverted 36,000 tonnes of goods from landfill sites. Every purchase and donation contributes to a tangible social and environmental impact, making Renaissance a key player in sustainable development in Quebec.
Founded in 1889, the Old Brewery Mission works to break the cycle of homelessness through three areas of intervention: prevention, emergency services, and housing. Its goal is to support people experiencing homelessness—or at risk of becoming homeless—toward long-term social reintegration and housing stability.
Programs tailored to specific populations, enhanced psychosocial support, the establishment of an in-house research department, and a significant and continuously expanding housing portfolio have made the Old Brewery Mission the largest resource for men experiencing homelessness in Quebec and for women experiencing homelessness in Canada.
