Alexandrie worked for 10 years in the restaurant business before deciding to retrain. With no other work experience and a lack of confidence in herself, she didn’t know where to look until she saw an advertisement for the job-training program.
Working at the Plateau thrift store, she learned to “restructure” herself by developing new skills. “When I’m labelling, I have to be very precise because I don’t want to damage the garment. At the checkout, that’s mental work, which helps me keep my intellect in shape.”
Alexandrie’s goal at the end of the program is to work in a clothing store where she will be able to develop good connections with customers: “When customers turn the shop upside down, we turn it right side up with a smile!”
