Renaissance Arrives to Québec City: A First Thrift Store in the Heart of the Capitale-Nationale

On June 20, Renaissance will open its very first thrift store in Québec City, at Halles Fleur de Lys (245 Soumande Street). This much-anticipated arrival marks a new milestone for this nonprofit organization, which is entirely Quebec-based and was founded here 30 years ago.

Created in 1994, Renaissance is a nonprofit organization deeply rooted in its community. Made by Quebecers, for Quebecers, it represents a unique social economy model at the intersection of social inclusion and sustainable development. Every day, the organization works to positively transform society by helping people who are far removed from the job market to find their place again, while also concretely reducing the environmental impact of overconsumption.

And the results speak for themselves. Between May 2024 and April 2025, Renaissance helped divert 31,000 tons of goods from landfills. At the same time, 3,660 people were supported through its employment and integration programs. Behind each number are human stories, reimagined life paths, and tangible steps toward a more caring future.

With this new opening in Québec City, Renaissance continues its mission in the Capitale-Nationale: providing everyone access to responsible consumption, while supporting life journeys toward autonomy and dignity. Already present in the region with a donation center in Sainte-Foy and a thrift store in Lévis, the organization is strengthening its local presence alongside committed partners such as Recyclage Vanier and Réno-Jouet.

Every donation and every purchase at a Renaissance thrift store supports a powerful social mission and a circular economy model deeply rooted in Quebec values. This new location—easily accessible by public transit and offering free parking—is much more than just a store: it is a place of transition, solidarity, and lasting impact.

Together, let’s keep building a Québec in our image: united, eco-responsible, and proud of its values.
